The fire engineer enters basic information about the system and produces a worksheet. The worksheet can be printed if the engineer prefers that or measurements can be entered directly on Survey JEM™ during the inspection.

Information recorded includes:

• Contact information
• Battery condition and readings
• Site monitoring and tests
• Alarm devices and tests
• Detection device tests and zones
• Faults outstanding and repaired

Once the inspection has been completed Survey JEM™ checks the data for a range of errors. The certificate can then be issued. Survey JEM™ provides the opportunity for the inspection company to customise the certificate to include their own logo or any accreditation logos they may have.

When the certificate is issued Survey JEM™ can email the property representative to let them know. This can include a simple link to allow them to log in and accept the certificate.

If the property is one of many in a client's portfolio then they can access all fire equipment certificates on Survey JEM™. They can easily export data to allow them to plan any remediation work in order of priority.

Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Certificates

The availability of a suitable, working fire extinguisher could be the difference between life and death for someone escaping a building fire. It could also be used to stop a small fire before it escalates out of control. If the fire extinguisher is missing, broken or empty then it is useless.

Ensuring fire extinguishers are properly maintained and regularly tested is the responsibility of a building owner. However, the owner is rarely qualified to carry out testing or maintenance so they usually request properly qualified engineers to do such work.

Survey JEM™ has been designed with the fire engineer in mind. Creating a fire extinguisher maintenance certificate for a property in Survey JEM™ is quick and easy. First the engineer collects information such as:

• Contact information
• Fire extinguisher locations
• Any defects encountered
• Details of any service contract in place

The information is then checked by Survey JEM™ before a certificate is issued in PDF format. A notification can be automatically sent to the site contact. They can then use a simple login to view the certificate and authorise any remedial work required.

Domestic Fire Detection Certificates

Any rented property or social housing requires sufficient fire detection equipment installed. That equipment must be maintained and regularly tested to ensure it is working correctly. If the property is in a portfolio then Survey JEM™ can make the job of ensuring compliance with regulation easy.

The information stored for a domestic fire detection certificate includes the following:

• Contact information
• Inspection category
• NAPIT registration number
• Commissioning information
• Instructions for the resident
• Detector locations and tests

First the fire engineer carries out any testing as required. They then enter the information into Survey JEM™ and issue a certificate. Survey JEM™ can automatically notify the person responsible for the property when a certificate is issued. They can use a simply login to view and accept the certificate. If they prefer then they can have access to the full list of properties with additional tools such as data export to help minimise the effort involved in managing timings for inspections or remedial works.
